Must Visit Places at Ewha

Although Ewha is known for its beautiful landscape and architecture, Ewha has a lot of beautiful historical sites that deserve to be profiled. Here are some of the historical places that we would like you to know.

Ewha Archives

The Ewha archives is a simple yet symbolic building. Not only is it a historical site, but it also offers the history of Ewha Womans University itself. The Ewha Archives was designed in 2006 on the 120th anniversary of Ewha as a replica of the traditional hanok house of Ewha Haktang; first opened in 1886. The Ewha Archives offers the space of learning and experiencing the proud history of Ewha. 

The Welch Ryan Auditorium 

The Welch Ryan Auditorium, with the capacity to seat 2,800, was built in the 1950s after the Korean War and was at the time the largest concert hall in Asia to host the world’s leading performers. Today, the building acts as a focal point of Ewha chapel tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation. The beautiful stairs leading to the entrance of the building are a perfect picture spot for many students. 

Ewha Campus Complex 

We cannot talk about the beauty of Ewha campus without mentioning the Ewha Campus Complex. Completed in 2008, the ECC is one of the most beautiful sites on campus. The building has a unique form of structure that surrounds a long centralized passageway. It provides students with an environment to learn as a community through life and culture and also relax. The ECC houses study rooms, lecture halls, exhibition halls, a bookstore, a movie theatre, a gym and many other school facilities within its walls. 

Centennial Museum 

Opened in 1935 as part of the university’s efforts to preserve Korea’s rich cultural heritage, the Ewha University Museum offers a wide range of displays of Korean cultural heritage dating from the prehistoric era, covering diverse fields from cultural artifacts to contemporary art in its Permanent Exhibition Hall, Modern Art Gallery, Special Exhibition Hall, Donated Artifacts Exhibition Hall and Chang Budeok Memorial Gallery.

Natural History Museum 

Founded on November 20, 1969, as the first of its kind in Korea, the Ewha Natural museum provides learning for both students and the general public. The museum consists of a research laboratory, lecture room, storage room, and 3 exhibition halls (Permanent Exhibition Hall, Special Exhibition Hall, and Diorama Hall) that exhibit specimens, photographs, descriptions, life-size models, and actual ecosystem of the forest, sea areas and areas of Korea midland. 

Souvenir Shop 

The souvenir shop which is available both on and offline sells unique souvenirs that are only produced at Ewha Womans University. The souvenir shop offers various kinds of goods from clothes to stationary with the Ewha logo, symbol, images, and landscapes that students and visitors can purchase to make their stay and visit at Ewha a memorable one.
